Sera Monastery University (India)
Sera Je Monastic University, based in Bylakuppe in the south-western Indian state of Karnataka, is home to more than 3000 monks following the centuries of Tibetan Buddhist monastic tradition of study, prayers and debate.
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, which has impacted every part of the world, the monastery has put together this exceptional video explaining their activities in response to the crisis including extensive charitable activities for the local community.
The founder of the Tibetan Buddhist Society, Venerable Geshe Acharya Thubten Loden, studied at Sera Je Monastery in both Tibet and its new home in India. Throughout his life in Australia from 1976-2011 Geshe-la would regularly visit India to make offerings to the Sera Je monks.
